On 2-14-10 I went to the Art Van store in Chesterfield, MI, to purchase a bunk bed. I was told there are only 13 in stock of that model. I told my sales lady (Barb) that I was in no rush as I still needed to paint the room. I was told I can put a down payment on this item and this would hold it for me, that way if the other 13 were gone I would still have mine. Barb said she would note the order to say that I would return to pay-off and set up delivery once painting was done. My sales lady called and left me a message on Friday 2/19/10 asking if I was going to add anything to that order (I had thought about a matching dresser). I did not return her call because I knew I was going to go there today 2/21/10 to pay-off and set up delivery. I went today 2/21/10 and paid-off and was asked what day I would like delivery, only to be told that my item is out-of-stock and will not be in until mid-march. My hold was released by Vickie to another customer. I was offered nothing but a “opps, I'm sorry.” THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE to me. They had no problem taking my money on 2/14/10 and I feel I returned in reasonable time to pay for the item. I could see them doing this without me calling or returning after say 30 days but 7 days!!! So I had a choice purchase the bed from them or look else where. I already looked and no one had this style of bunk bed. Well I canceled my order from the chesterfield store and went to the hall rd. store. I knew it was already on backorder but I wasn't give the chesterfield store my money. I'm very upset and discussed in the Chesterfield stores customer services practice. The part that made me even more angry was the fact that they tried to take a hold from the Port Huron store and do to someone else what was done to me.
